The Tom Baker Cancer Centre (TBCC) in Calgary is seeking to recruit a Locum Medical Oncologist. You will join an existing team of 26 Medical Oncologists. The locum term is for one year. The Tom Baker Cancer Centre, a component of a provincial program of cancer care,is a tertiary referral centre. The TBCC is the main cancer treatment, research and education facility for Southern Alberta. Approximately 7,000 new patients are seen each year at the Centre in state-of-the-art facilities. Our team of medical oncologists treat all solid organ malignancies and work collaboratively in tumour groups to provide excellent patient care. Radiation services for southern Alberta are provided at TBCC by 21 Radiation Oncologists, and facilities include 9 linear accelerators, CT simulation, intensity modulated radiotherapy, brachytherapy, and stereotactic capabilities. The Provincial Bone Marrow Transplant program is also delivered in Calgary. Postgraduate training programs in Medical Oncology and other oncology disciplines (Radiation, Gynecological, Surgical, Hematology, and Palliative Care) are fully accredited by the RCPSC. The TBCC has a very active clinical research program, including in-house investigator lead, cooperative groups, (such as the CCTG and N.R.G. (N.S.A.B.P., R.T.O.G., G.O.G.)), and industry trials. Integration with the University of Calgary’s Arnie Charbonneau Cancer Institute enables a strong translational and basic research focus. |
Qualifications:
You must have an MD degree and Canadian specialist certification in Medical Oncology, or the equivalent. You must be eligible for licensure as a specialist by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and for appointment to the medical staff of AHS. Special training and/or a record of academic success in areas such as epidemiology, clinical trials, investigational new drug development, translational research and/or health services research would be desirable.
