Alberta Health Services, South Zone, and the Department of Addiction & Mental Health, invites applications for the position of an Adult Community Psychiatrist/Psychiatrist to establish a full-time/part-time practice in the community of COMMUNITY.  This position will provide services/This position requires a scope of practice/The primary role of this position will support community/rural clinics in the South Zone, via in-person outpatient clinics, Telehealth and other virtual care means. Community Clinic, Inpatient & Outpatient Services, Emergency Consults, and Specialist On-Call Coverage.

  

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC INFORMATION

  

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Reside in and have as their primary residence within the community of COMMUNITY;
  • Establish and maintain full time community based practice within the community;
  • Obtain and maintain an AHS Medical Staff Appointment and appropriate privileges to provide the Services;
  • Provide call assistance as per call schedules, including full time participation in the Psychiatry call schedule, as required;
  • Abide by the AHS Medical Staff Bylaws, the AHS Medical Staff Rules and AHS policies;
  • Participate in quality improvement programs and initiatives undertaken within the Zone Clinical Department of Addiction & Mental Health;
  • Participate in relevant Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs;
  • Contribute to and participate in other administrative responsibilities, as assigned;
  • Work collaboratively with peers and care team colleagues in support of patient care

  

Once chosen, the successful candidate may choose to operate their business by joining an existing independent outpatient practice or form an independent outpatient office of their own. This is the candidate's independent business decision and will not be managed through the recruitment process.

Required Qualifications:

  • Have or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (required with application);
  • Have or be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification (RCPSC);
  • Have specialist certification or equivalent in Psychiatry, or currently be enrolled in a Psychiatry Residency Program;
  • Recent and relevant experience (within the past XX years/XX months) in all areas of practice required, as the Most Responsible Physician;

  

Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS);
