The Department of Critical Care Medicine invites applications for a full time Critical Care physician with expertise at a clinical assistant professor level. The Department of Critical Care Medicine and Respiratory Medicine co-manage patients as they move through acute to chronic phases of their illness requiring non-invasive or invasive forms of mechanical ventilatory support. This position will appeal to individuals with demonstrated training, expertise and academic interest in critical care medicine, respirology and chronic mechanical ventilation.
The successful applicant is expected to provide clinical service within critical care medicine, working as an attending intensivist in the 4 multi-system ICUs operated by the Department of Critical Care Medicine within Alberta Health Services - Calgary Zone. The applicant will be joining a dedicated group of 30+ intensivists with varied backgrounds. The department provides graduate (Medical Science MSc &#CD# PhD) and postgraduate training opportunities and strong research networks spanning biomedical, clinical and health services research.
Alberta Health Services (AHS) Calgary Zone operates four adult teaching hospitals in the city of Calgary that serve 1.8 million residents of Southern Alberta, Southeastern British Columbia and Southwestern Saskatchewan. The Department of Critical Care Medicine and the Section of Respiratory Medicine, Department of Medicine provide academic and clinical services in an integrated manner across all hospital sites and several ambulatory care settings. Calgary is a vibrant city (population 1,200,000) situated near the Rocky Mountains, Banff National Park and Lake Louise.
Qualifications:
Qualifications include:
- MD, FRCPC (Critical Care Medicine)
- 1 or more years specialized training in the management of patients requiring chronic ventilatory support (to be completed prior to the start date)
- MSc or PhD in clinical or health services research
- Eligibility for licensure in the province of Alberta
- Established reputable excellence in clinical care and teaching of medical students and residents.
- Must read, write and speak English.
