🔍 Edmonton Zone
The Edmonton Zone Palliative Care Program, Alberta Health Services is currently accepting applications for qualified Palliative Care Physicians to work in a variety of clinical settings on a full-time or part-time basis. The Program delivers comprehensive, integrated palliative care in the community, acute care and oncology facilities, hospices, and a tertiary palliative care unit. There are up to 4 FTE's available.
Palliative care consultations in the Edmonton Zone are provided by inter-professional teams consisting of physicians, nurse consultants, nurse practitioners and allied health practitioners at the different patient care settings. The successful applicants will be part of the service schedule of the physician group, and will work across settings.
New physicians in the Program are encouraged to apply for clinical lecturer appointments in the Division of Palliative Medicine, Department of Oncology, University of Edmonton. The Division is extensively involved in a program of Palliative Medicine education for medical students and rotating residents, offers a highly regarded palliative medicine residency, and has many active opportunities to conduct research in Palliative Medicine.
The physicians in the Program are required to participate in an on-call schedule to provide after-hours and weekend coverage for the Edmonton Zone. On weekends this includes seeing patients on the Tertiary Palliative Care Unit, and doing urgent consults at the different sites covered by the Edmonton Zone.
Qualified physicians will have completed the CFPC (College of Family Physicians of Canada) Added Year of Competency training in Palliative Care or the RCSPC (Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians of Canada) Palliative Medicine subspecialty or equivalent education. An interest in research or education in Palliative Medicine would be an asset.
